Thanksgiving

Oh my how how busy the Norris' have been. We are all five living in a different place which makes it difficult for the holidays. I flew into DFW for Thanksgiving where Terry and Megan picked me up and we left for Oklahoma City to spend Thanksgiving at Cassandra's. Deena drove up the next morning. Terry, Megan and I left for home on Friday afternoon and I flew back on Saturday to Corpus Christi. Working for the Church during December is a busy busy time! Wonderful but busy.

I got word that Randy Maples had a heart attack and died. Randy was one of those people who loved God, loved his Church and the people. Randy was a friend, and I'll miss him. I decided that I had to go back to say goodbye. So I left Monday at noon to drive into Coppell (7 hrs.). Made it into town with 20 minutes to spare for the family night at the funeral home. Megan came in the next morning just in time for the funeral and then we left for Corpus Christi early Thursday morning.

FBC Portland had a drive through Christmas Village Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and I was the person at then exit who thanked them for coming and took the narrative cd back so that we could recycle. We had close to 600 cars come through and hear about the light of the world and His birth. It was awesome. Then we had an activity either at the church or a church function all the next week. Megan commented that for being a slow paced and layed back community, we have sure kept busy!

Portland Update

Things are going well here. We've had two Sunday's of Children's Worship and Upwards Basketball registration is underway. Terry is here for a couple of days doing job searches and so we are trying to get around the area some. We went to Port Aransas last night for dinner. We took the ferry across and watched the dolphins jumping in front of us. When we loaded we were sent to the very front of the ferry and on the left side so we had a great view. There was seven and eight of them jumping at the same time. It was an awesome site! I wish I could have gotten a picture of it but it was dusk and the pics did not come out good. We'll have to try again!
Today we are going to Corpus Christi and look around. We'll hit the beach at some point today. Tomorrow Terry is heading back home and I'll spend the day at the church working on Children's Worship and Upwards Basketball. I'm going to Coppell next weekend so that I can help Deena move into her apartment (it's a tradition that I make the girls beds when they move into a new place) and we'll celebrate Megan's 22nd birthday. We will all be together for a few days, YES!

Settling in Portland??

Okay here are some pictures of the new apartment as we were moving in and unpacking. It has been a long drawn out process!! We are praying that Terry will get a job here in Portland asap and join me for good. We have stuff strung between here and Coppell and Stillwater, OK. I am really enjoying it here though. It is very pretty and the people are great. It is a very different ministry here, I am glad that God brought us here.

Coppell Sisters

Friday, September 19, 2008, the day before I drove off to Portland my Coppell sisters took me to lunch and spent some time with me. As always we had lots of fun eating at Wonderful World of Cooking (congealed salad - yum yum) and shopping at the shops on the strip of downtown Carrollton. I love my Coppell Sisters!
Megan cheered along with several other alum cheerleaders from CHS at the homecoming game that evening. What a thrill for me. I always loved watching her cheer (living out my childhood dreams). It was really great to see all the girls from her squad and some others. I love high school football and college football, go OSU!

My First Day Surpises!

First we (Terry, Megan and I) drive to Starbucks for Coffee and as we pull out of the drive through I see my name on the church's billboard. I'm embarrassed and glad I have my coffee! By the way directly across the street from the church is the Starbucks, I knew it was a God thing when we visited and saw the location of the Starbucks. Just kidding, but it is nice to have it so close.
Then we go up to my new office and I have the most beautiful bouquet of flowers sent from my "Coppell Sisters." Their the best! I miss everyone in Coppell but I can say that I'm having a great time here. The scenery is beautiful and the people are really nice. Ministry here in Portland is very different from Coppell. I thank God that He put us in a field!

A New Beginning

The announcement has been made and plans are in the works. Team Norris is moving to Portland, TX. I have been called to be the Director of Children's Minstery for First Baptist Church Portland. It is with excitement and great sadness we look forward to this event. FBC Coppell has been our home for so long that going anywhere else seems odd, but God has greater plans and I look forward to the challenges facing us as we move in this new ministry. We invite you to call and stop in to visit us, we'll take you to the beach.
